The specialty Bulgarian & English has a wide curriculum of academic disciplines, including linguistics and literature, history and contemporary state of the Bulgarian and English languages, history of Bulgarian and English literatures, basic methodical and pedagogical disciplines, as well as eligible disciplines with philological and humanitarian profile.
The English language profiled disciplines provide for the maximum improvement of the students language skills in English (speaking, listening, reading and writing), their integrated practical application, gaining additional knowledge in the fields of English-speaking literature and linguistics, culture, interpreting, basic methodical and pedagogical disciplines related to the English language. Most of the theoretical disciplines are taught in English.
The Bulgarian language profiled disciplines included in the specialty's curriculum aim to give the students wider knowledge about the Bulgarian language, literature and culture, as well as methodical knowledge about the teaching.
The qualification allows teaching, scientific and methodical, organization and management activities in the field of education. The graduates from the specialty Bulgarian & English find their professional realization as teachers in Bulgarian language and literature and English language in the system of education.
Opportunities for additional education for higher educational degrees are available – there is a wide variety of master and PhD programs in different humanitarian fields. Schooling in both languages provides opportunities for professional realization in the fields of translating and interpreting, media and consulting.
