French language is one of the official languages in the European Union and basic for big part of the European institutions located in Strasbourg and Brussels. In this context the specialty French philology is very attractive since the language proficiency is an advantage by applying for work at the European institutions.

Student's educational training is based on modern program including fundamental theoretical and practical training as wide profile of specialized disciplines in order to provide maximum competitiveness. The eligible disciplines give the student choice for additional study according to their interests.

The university program in French language and literature includes overall theoretical linguistic and literature disciplines, history and nowadays development of French language is studied, foreign studies, history of French literature, basic methodical and pedagogical disciplines. The study program allows additional training in the sphere of simultaneous interpreting and translation of literature texts. The specialized theoretical disciplines (linguistic and literature) are thought in French language. Elective is the study of Spanish language.

Student's education in “
French philology” is done in collaboration with the French universities ina Paris and Cane, International Francophone Institutions (Agence Universitaire Francophone) and the French Cultural Institute.

Future graduates gain the educational qualification “bachelor” with professional qualification “philologist and teacher of French language and literature”. They could find their professional realization as teachers of French language and literature in the school system or in specialized language schools, in different cultural institutions, libraries and institutes; they could also participate in scientific and methodical and organizational and management activities in the school-system; as experts in different national and international organization and institutions: as specialists philologists (collaborators, correspondents) in Bulgarian and international corporations, advertisement agencies, collaborators in firms in the sphere of tourism as well as researchers in the sphere of linguistic and literature.

Future graduates from the specialty
“French philology” could continue their education for the educational degree “master” and the scientific degree Ph. D. in wide area of master and Ph. D. programs.
