The specialty “Chemistry & Physics” is a pedagogical specialty. It has long traditions at the Plovdiv University, simultaneously developed with the Faculty of Physics. The study curriculum is being renewed in order to provide up to date educational level for education of teachers for the high school system, including basing and per-graduation pedagogical practices at basic schools.

Prognosis for the work market at the country and abroad show serious future lack of teachers after 2014. The demand for qualified young cadres guarantees future realization for the graduates in this specialty.

Graduates from the specialty “Chemistry & Physics” receive educational degree “bachelor” and professional qualification “teacher in chemistry” and “teacher in physics” since they receive equal training in both areas – chemistry and physics. They could apply for work at all stages of the Bulgarian education system – grammar schools and high schools in which study disciplines such as “chemistry”, ”physics” and ”human and nature” (chemistry and physics) are included, as well as tutors at the natural studies and ecology.

Graduated bachelors could continue their education at the faculty, for the master program “Teacher in chemistry” or at another program in the field of chemistry, physics or master program from the field of pedagogics.
