Medical Chemistry
Professional field: chemistry
Educational qualification: bachelor
Professional qualification: chemist – Medical chemistry
Period of study: 8 semesters (4 years)
Forms of study: regular
Evaluation scoring: see annex #1
This specialty is one of the most popular among the prospective students. Training in this specialty is pursuant with the increasing demand for specialists with chemical preparation in the field of medicine and health care.
This training program includes three main modules: Fundamental chemical disciplines, forming the fundamental training in chemistry: overall, inorganic, organic and analytical chemistry, physics and chemistry and chemical technologies. The second component of the program, includes disciplines forming knowledge about features, synthesis, analysis of medicinal compounds and clinical chemistry. Study of basic biological disciplines (such as human anatomy and physiology, microbiology and cellular biology) form the necessary knowledge foundation, which the future specialists in medical chemistry use in their professional practice.
Laboratory exercises are 45% from the overall training, which provides opportunities for forming practical skills, needed for the successful professional realization of the future bachelors.
The future specialists are trained for performing the following activities in the state and abroad:
* manufacture activities in chemical, pharmaceutical, biotechnological, cosmetics and other medicine connected spheres;
* tests in analytical laboratories in the sphere of health care, health centers, clinics, laboratories, control laboratories, pharmaceutical industrial and others.
* scientifically applicable research in the fields of chemistry, pharmacology, biotechnologies, nanotechnologies, ecology and others.
Motivated students could apply for semester scholarships at foreign universities.
Simultaneously with the bachelor program in chemistry, students could apply for programs for additional qualification available at the faculty.
Successfully graduated students, could continue their education in various master programs at the faculty of chemistry, as well as at other higher school educational institution or abroad.
