Bioinformatics

Since 2004. Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski” was the first one to establish the bachelor program in “Bioinformatics”.

Nowadays tasks in the field of “Bioinformatics” are very wide. They could be generally explained as making systems for informational approaches, analytical and theoretical methods, mathematical models and computer simulation techniques for study and model of various biological systems.

The specialty's curriculum includes biological disciplines, as well as disciplines from the sphere of up to date informational technologies and programming for the needs of bioinformatics. The main accents in the training is in the field of molecular biology, molecular genetics, programming for bioinformatics, informational modeling, evolution models and others.

Graduate's could find their professional realization as bioinformaticians in all scientific institutes dealing with biology and informatics; laboratories and firms dealing with production of medicines and bioproducts in the state and abroad.

The specialty “Bioinformatics” has received high accreditation evaluation from the NAEA.

Successfully graduated bachelors could continue their education in various master programs.
