Ecology for Biotechnological Industry

The specialty “Ecology for the biotechnological industry” was initially formed at the Faculty of Biology at the Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”.
Dealing with issues from this new type of industry, humanity needs new type of specialists – experts ecologists with biotechnological education. The specialty's curriculum includes basic specialties such as ecological biotechnology and aquacultures, bioremediation, bionanotechnologies, providing the future specialists wider knowledge and better understanding of the contemporary interdisciplinary characteristics of this scientific branch.

The future graduate's perspectives are connected to the expanding demand for certified specialists for the biotechnological companies in Europe, dealing with biological production, biofuel and waste recycling, as well as at scientific and research organizations working over problematic and innovative ecological and biotechnologies. Except in the above mentioned areas, there also is need for experts in the state administration capable of dealing ecological and social issues.
