Medical Biology

Nowadays achievements in the fields of biology and medicine have led to constant rising demand for experts in the fields of Medical biology, capable of proceeding specific laboratory and technical procedures. In order to fulfill the expanding demand for such specialists, the Biological Faculty at the Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski” established in 2009. the specialty “Medical biology” which is the first of its kind in the Bulgarian higher education system.

The education in the specialty “Medical biology” is based on interdisciplinary approaches by studying the key biological mechanisms responsible for for various human diseases. Graduates gain expert knowledge and skills in Medical biology and their role is to provide the scientific and practical base of medicine, including research of new methods and means for diagnoses and treatment of different diseases. The main goal is implementation of new scientific discoveries in the medical practices, as well as spreading this knowledge in the wide publicity. Experts in Medical biology make the connection between science, medical practices, and public health care.

Graduates with bachelor degree in Medical biology could find their professional realization in pharmacological and biotechnological industry; at research biomedical institutes and schooling facilitates; clinical laboratories and all sectors of health care.
