Ecology & Environmental preservation

The education in “Ecology and Environmental preservation” is carried through scientific and practical disciplines. The training has two main stages – the first one is fundamental,while the other one includes specific disciplines and practical activities.

The study curriculum provides solid theoretical and practical skills in the fields of nature sciences – botanics, zoology, microbiology, ecology, anatomy and physiology, genetics and biochemistry. Future ecologists gains specific knowledge in the fields of treatment and refining of fluids and hard waste; climate,water, soil and atmosphere conditions; methods and criteria for environmental evaluation and it's contamination and the impact over natural ecosystems; methods of ecological monitoring as well as Bulgarian and international law in the sphere of environmental preservation. By actualizing the study programs and the specialty's curriculum there are certain conditions provided for training ecological specialists in accordance to the European norms and requirements. The quality of education in ecology and environmental preservation is guaranteed by the high level of the academical staff at the Faculty of Biology, as well as the up to date material and technical base for laboratory and practical work. The practical training of the students is done at the university facilities in the city of Tzarevo (at the Bulgarian seaside) and the Rhodopa maintain.

Graduated ecologists could find professional realization as managers and executives in the directorates of national parks and reserves; in inspectorates for environmental preservation; water resources directorates; hygiene and epidemiology inspections; local and national institutes and NGO in the fields of environment; state and private production firms; state and private schools for education in the field of ecology; at scientific institutes; national and international organizations involved in activities in the sphere of ecology; ecology police. The specialty “Ecology and environmetal preservation” has received high accreditation evaluation from the NAEA.
