Application procedure for international students from the EU and EEA

Application conditions

All programs and modes of education of Plovdiv University Paisii Hilendarski are open to applicants who comply with the following conditions:

For Bachelor’s degree programs:

  1. Completed secondary education enabling the student to continue into the higher education institutions of the country where the diploma has been issued;
  2. Rank-forming grades in the secondary education diploma for the corresponding programs (pertinent to the competition for admittance to the University). In case there is no final grade for the required subject in the secondary education diploma, the applicant has to pass an exam in the relevant subject at a Bulgarian school indicated by the Ministry of Education and Science and submit the certificate (for passing successfully);
  3. Applicants must not have health conditions which are counter-indicative to studying and practicing the profession they apply for.

 Deadlines and necessary documents

Applicants submit the documents (for ranking) in person or through a representative from 11 June to 20 June in the Sports hall of Paisii Hilendarski University (236, Bulgaria blvd., Plovdiv)

Applicants have to submit the following documents:

  1. A set of application documents (sample forms) that may be purchased from the bookstore of the University;
  2. Diploma of secondary education along with its appendix with grades – the original and a photocopy;

    *Graduates of non-Bulgarian schools must present a Certificate from the Regional Department of Education (RDE) in Plovdiv for recognized secondary education with recalculated grades of all the (individual) subjects into the six-grade system. 
  1. Document certifying Bulgarian language fluency at B2 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, issued by a higher school in the Republic of Bulgaria - for candidates who do not have to undergo language and specialized training;
  2. Proof of payment of the application fee (for the entrance examination).

The amount of the fee is specified on an annual basis by a Council of Ministers Decree.

The application fee has to be deposited together with the application documents.

Competitive entrance examinations and ranking

Programs, competitive exams and their schedule, exam schedules, grading, ranking, and confirmation and enrollment deadlines are published in the application guidebook for the current academic year.
